110
años de literatura española y deporte
Jesús
Castañón Rodríguez y María Ángeles
Rodríguez Arango
On
the occasion of the fifth year of Idioma
y deporte in 2004,
its editor and María Ángeles Rodríguez
Arango, a pioneer who made sports literature a university subject,
have set to work to offer the readers of the web a century and
a decade of Spanish literature.
Poems,
novels, theatrical works, newspaper articles, essays... about
all kinds of activities since the Generation of '98 took sport
to the field of literature thanks to Unamuno and Baroja.
It
is a journey shared by Nobel prize winners such as Jacinto Benavente,
Vicente Aleixandre or Camilo José Cela and a long list
of writers from every era, and distinguished with all kinds
of specialised awards, who have put on their shorts to perform
all sorts of pirouettes and movements with words to enthuse
their readers.
This
exceptional work of documentation is presented to the audience
of Idioma y deporte in four instalments. This introduction is
given in the month of April and is followed in May by an annotated
compilation of studies on this theme. In the months of June,
July and September a compete list of bibliographic references
will be published, which may be consulted according to alphabetic
order, literary genres and sporting disciplines.
Those
who follow Idioma y deporte
will have information on five hundred literary compositions
relating to thirty sporting disciplines and thus enlarge on
the information collected by these authors in Creación
literaria española sobre deporte moderno (Valladolid,
1997), "Literatura y deporte moderno (1845-1995). Su enseñanza
en la Escuela de Magisterio", (Valladolid, 1998) and "Bibliografía
española de creación literaria del deporte",
(Buenos Aires, 1999).
